What are Reversible Stamps

Unlike traditional stamps, reversible stamps are designed to be used on both sides. One side features a detailed image, while the reverse side provides a solid shape that can be used for shadowing, background stamping, or creating a mirrored effect. This versatility fosters creative stamping opportunities.

• Stamp an image with one side

How I Used the Natural Botanicals Stamp Set for Layered Stamping

For these cards, I used the Natural Botanicals Photopolymer Stamp Set by Stampin’ Up!—a beautiful collection of nature-inspired images that work perfectly with reversible stamping techniques. I first chose to use Shades & Hues Designer Series Paper in Pool Party. I then used the Color Coach to pick the remainder of my colors: Pool Party, Azure Afternoon and Basic Gray.

1. Stamp the detailed side of the leaf stamp with Pool Party to add intricate details. I chose Pool Party for a monochromatic approach. However, you could choose to stamp the detailed image with a darker ink shade to add intricate details. Creative stamping is enhanced with these subtle variations.
2. Flip the stamp over and use the solid side. Ink the stamp with the same color and lightly “stamp off” before stamping a solid mirror image to create a soft background. This adds balance and symmetry to your image.
3. Layer additional stamped images, blend colors, and add finishing touches like sentiment stamps and embellishments!

The result? A beautifully layered, textured card with a natural, organic feel—all thanks to the power of reversible stamping!
