Double Accordion Gate Fold: Celebrate in Style

Some cards are made for everyday moments… and others are crafted for heartfelt milestones. Today, I’m sharing a Double Accordion Gate Fold Card created to celebrate a dear friend and team member who is retiring at the end of the month. This design is a beautiful way to showcase your favorite Designer Series Paper—and it’s sure to leave a lasting impression.

A Card That Tells a Story

For the card base, I selected Misty Moonlight—a rich, calming blue that perfectly sets the tone for a peaceful farewell. The star of this design is the Thoughtful Journey 6” x 6” Designer Series Paper. I chose three different patterns that complement each other beautifully, creating a cohesive yet dynamic look across the accordion panels.

To bring in texture and visual interest, I used the So Swirly Embossing Folder on three of the panels. The swirled pattern reminds me of gentle waves—fitting for someone who is sailing into a new chapter of life.

Today’s card is taking part in the Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators May Fun Fold Blog Hop. The “hop” is comprised of Independent Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators who love making fun folds and sharing those cards with others. They aim to provide creative ideas and inspiration. Setting Sail with Thoughtful Details

The focal point of this card features a detailed sailboat cut using the Sunrise Sailing Dies. It’s placed front and center, symbolizing new adventures ahead.

For the sentiments, I combined greetings from the Sunrise Sailing and Unbounded Love Stamp Sets. These messages reflect both celebration and deep appreciation—perfect for someone who has made a meaningful impact.

Add a Personal Touch To Your Fun Fold

On the back panel, I added a Basic White cardstock piece where I printed a personal verse using my home printer. This extra touch made the card even more special and heartfelt. One of the best parts about handmade cards is being able to customize every element, including the message.
