Today, I am focusing on using the Wishes All Around snowflakes die. This post is Part III in a series demonstrating easy holiday cards with the Wishes All Around Bundle. Throughout the series, I chose to use Pretty Peacock, Lost Lagoon and Basic White. I did this intentionally to demonstrate how to use one bundle to make several different cards with less supplies. So let’s get started with our third card.
Wishes All Around Snowflake Card Design – Part III
I used a standard card base 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ scored at 4 1/4″ of Pretty Peacock. Next, I used the a circle from the Stylish Shapes Dies to cut a center out of a Basic White layer. Then, I dry embossed the layer using the Christmas Tidings embossing folder and adhered it to the front of the card base.
The “cut out portion” of the embossed layer would be my focal point for the card. I chose to use the design with the deer from the Winter Meadow Designer Series Paper. Using the same circle die, I cut out the portion of the paper that I wanted to use. I, then, adhered it within the cut out circle of the embossed layer.
Building the Snowflake wreath
I wanted the snowflake wreath to be raised. Since the this is an intricate die cut, it was not conducive to using foam “pop-ups.” One of my favorite alternatives is to use several layers of die cuts to build my image. This is a great way to add dimension and depth to your card.
First, I layered adhesive sheets on the back of Basic White. Next, I cut three Basic White snowflake wreaths. I did the exact same for the top layer, but used Lost Lagoon Soft Shimmer Specialty Paper. Once all the shapes were cut, I peeled off the backing and layered the die cut snowflake wreaths one on top of another finishing with the Lost Lagoon on top. I, then, peeled the backing off the bottom layer and adhered it around the circle on the front of the card.
I finished up by stamping my sentiment using Pretty Peacock. Next, I decided to “fussy cut” before using Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere to the card front. I used Tinsel Gems 4 Pack to embellish the front.
For the inside of the card, I used Pretty Peacock to stamp my sentiments. Next, I used the center, left over from the wreath cut from the Soft Shimmer Paper, to die cut two individual snowflakes. Since they had the adhesive backing, they were easy to adhere to the inside.
