Today, I am sharing a Double Flap Fun Fold card that’s quick and easy to make. I chose to make a birthday card using the Charming Duck Pond Bundle and Lily Pond Lane 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper. I love the versatility of this Double Flap card design. While I chose to make a vertical card, this card could just as easily be made horizontally.
The birthday card I am sharing with you is part of the Crafty Collaborations “themed” blog hop. This month’s theme is “Birthday Wishes.” Crafty Collaboration’s blog “hops” are comprised of Independent Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators from around the world. These talented demonstrators love sharing their stamping and crafting ideas to provide you with inspiration. I hope, that as you “hop” along, you find inspiration in the many birthday wishes card designs!
A Double Flap Card Design
Because I wanted to demonstrate a quick & easy Double Flap Fun Fold, I chose three patterns from the Lily Pond Lane 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper. The three separate patterns were used as the layers on the top fold of the large card base, the front of the small card base and the inside of the large card base. Once I chose my patterned papers, I decided on Granny Apple Green for my card bases. The large card base measures 4 1/4″ x 10″ and is scored at 5 1/2″. To create the front flap, I cut 2 1/2″ off the side of the card base measuring 4 1/2″.
The front flap is the focal point for the Double Flap Fun Fold. I decided to use a layer of Basic White dry embossed with the So Swirly Embossing Folder. The design reminded me of the ripples of water one might see in a pond or lake.
I used the Charming Duck Pond Dies to die cut the cattails and a small duckling from the Lily Pond Lane Designer Series Paper. The mama duck with the three ducklings required “fussy cutting.” Because I wanted to matte my sentiment, I chose a coordinating color from the Designer Series Paper and used Pretty Peacock.
Double Flap Fun Fold: Small Card Base
For the small card base of my double flap card, I chose to use a layer of Designer Series Paper. Here, I stamped a sentiment on the paper using a stamp from Unbounded Love. Because this card design allows for a variety of options, one could choose to use an embossed or stamped layer in place of the Designer Series Paper.

On the inside of the small card base, I stamped a sentiment, again, from Unbounded Love on Basic White. I added a 3/8″ strip of coordinating Designer Series Paper with a small duckling die cut from Lily Pond Lane.
The small card base was then adhered to the Designer Series Paper on the inside of the larger card base creating a Double Flap Fun Fold card!
Below is the video tutorial that demonstrates step-by-step how to cut and design a Double Flap Fun Fold card. Below you will find measurements, supplies and a downloadable PDF including instructions.
