Today, I want to show you how to create blended backgrounds using negative die cuts. This is an easy technique that requires card stock, ink pads, blending brushes and the negative from a die cut. Now, you may be asking what is a negative die cut. A negative die cut is the open space left in the paper, once, the die has been cut out.
Below, is the card I created in the video tutorial using the negative die cut from one of the Deckled Circle Dies. To create a stunning blended background, I used Flirty Flamingo, Calypso Coral and Daffodil Delight with blending brushes. I, particularly, enjoy creating a blended background with floral and silhouette images. Here, I chose the floral image from Spotlight On Nature and heat embossed using Tuxedo Black Momento Ink, Versamark Ink and Clear Embossing Powder. For details refer to the video tutorial below.
What types of Dies To Use For Blended Backgrounds
When choosing a negative die cut to create blended backgrounds, choose a die that provides enough surface area to color. Examples would include circles, squares, rectangles, etc. Any shape that is large enough and allows room for blending colors.
Below is the video tutorial that covers how to create blended backgrounds using negative die cuts. In the video, you will find tips for choosing dies, blending colors with blending brushes, as well as, some tips for heat embossing using a black ink pad.
