Holiday Cards: Clean and Simple

This week is the sixth week in my Twelve Weeks of Christmas. I wanted to focus on holiday cards that were clean and simple. I have struggled with clean and simple design in the past. But, time and experience have taught me “more is not, necessarily, better.”

In planning my card, I wanted to go with a nontraditional holiday color. No reds or greens and I needed one holiday card that I could send to family and friends who do not celebrate Christmas. As I tend to be negligent at using up my Specialty Papers, I chose to use the Snowflake 12″ x 12″ Specialty Vellum. The iridescent foil and white flocking on the vellum against a Starry Sky card stock made for beautiful cards. The snowflake from the Celebrations Tags dies, White Glittered Organdy Ribbon and Iridescent Pearls Basic Jewels were a perfect match to finish off these holiday cards.

Holiday Card “Happy New Year”: Measurements and Instructions

• Starry Sky:
  • 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″
  • Scraps (die cut)
• Basic White:
  • 4″ x 5 1/4″ (inside layer)
  • Scrap (die cut)
• Snowflake 12″ x 12″ Specialty Vellum
  • 3 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ (layer)
  • 1/4″ x 5 1/4″ (inside strip)

1. Fold Starry Sky on scoreline.
2. Adhere Snowflake Vellum (layer) to center front of card.
3. Die cut three snowflakes using Starry Sky.
4. Stamp sentiment using Starry Sky on Basic White (scrap).
5. Die cut sentiment using the third largest circle die.
6. Adhere sentiment to card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
7. Place Iridescent Pearl Basic Jewel in center of each die cut snowflake.
8. Adhere Snowflake Vellum (strip) to Basic White (inside layer).
9. Stamp sentiment using Starry Sky.
10. Adhere inside layer to card.

Holiday Card “Tis The Season”: Measurements and Instructions

• Starry Sky:
  • 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″
• Basic White:
  • 4″ x 5 1/4″ (inside layer)
  • Scrap (die cut)
• Snowflake 12″ x 12″ Specialty Vellum
  • 1 3/4″ x 5 1/2″ (layer)
  • 1/4″ x 5 1/4″ (inside strip)

1. Fold Starry Sky on scoreline.
2. Dry emboss right front of card using Wintry 3D Embossing Folder (snowflakes).
3. Adhere Snowflake Vellum (layer) to left front of card. This may overlay slightly onto the embossed portion of the card.
4. Stamp sentiment using Starry Sky on Basic White (scrap).
5. Die cut sentiment using the third largest circle die.
6. Place a 1″ strip of Stamp & Seal + on card front where sentiment will be placed.
7. Cut a 10″ piece of White Glittered Organdy Ribbon.
8. Fold the ribbon back and forth three times adhering to the Stamp & Seal+.
9. Trim ends of ribbon as desired.
10. Adhere sentiment placing over the ribbon using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
11. Place Iridescent Pearl Basic Jewels to front of card.
12. Adhere Snowflake Vellum (strip) to Basic White (inside layer).
13. Stamp sentiment using Starry Sky.
14. Adhere inside layer to card.
