Today, I want to share with you an easy fun fold using the Stampin’ Up Winter Owls Bundle. This bundle was my first pick from the 2023 September – December Mini Catalogs. I love owls, all owls. But the owl in the Stampin’ Up Winter Owls Bundle reminded me of the Snowy Owl. This is an owl that over the last few winters has visited the shores of Lake Erie, not far from where I live. To catch a glimpse of this picturesque owl is breathtaking and a once in a lifetime privilege. So today, I am dedicating my card to the “snowy owl.”
Stampin’ Up Winter Owls Fun fold Design
I used Night of Navy for the fun fold card base and paired it with the Shining Brightly Specialty Designer Series Paper. This paper is beautiful with inlaid gold, which adds to it’s elegance. On the inside, I used a scenic piece of from the One Horse Open Sleigh Designer Series Paper. For the background of my focal poin, I used Boho Blue. Lemon Lolly and a blending brush were used to on Basic White to create a background. Once I achieved the look I was going for, I used the 2 3/8″ circle punch to cut a moon.
Instead of stamping, I directly cut the owl using just die cuts on Basic White. I wanted to keep it clean and decided not to add any color. The body of the owl is “popped up” with Dimensionals, while the wings were adhered down with glue. In person, it gives the appearance as if the owl was in flight. The greeting was heat embossed with Gold Embossing Powder.
Winter Owls Fun Fold Inside
For the inside of my fun fold, I decided to use a scenic piece of One Horse Open Sleigh Designer Series Paper. I wanted to carry through a winter scene of a “starry night sky and moon” to an open field. One like you might actually spot this “snowy owl.” To preserve the beauty of the Designer Series Paper, I decided to heat emboss my sentiment directly on the paper rather than cover it up with another layer. I really like how it turned out!
In the video, below, I provide tips creating the card and using the Winter Owls dies. Further down in the post, you will see measurements, supplies and downloadable PDF. Leave me a comment, I would love to know what you think of the Winter Owl Bundle!
