I am excited to share two clean and simple cards using the Stampin’ Up! Wild Fern Bundle found in the 2024 January – April Mini Catalog. Immediately, I decided to pair it with the Fern 3D Embossing Folder. I wanted to incorporate two techniques into one of my cards: partial embossing and border masking. So, let’s move on and see what I did!
Wild Ferns Bundle: Heartfelt Condolences
I am privileged to oversee our Sympathy Card Ministry at my church. Since, I make the cards that we mail out, I change the card each month. This month, I wanted a clean and simple design. The Wild Ferns Bundle was perfect for what I had in mind.
I chose Lost Lagoon and Basic White for the colors. The front Basic White layer was embossed with the Fern 3D Embossing Folder. The partial frame with the ferns was just enough to add color and interest to the front of the card. I used the Tinsel Gems 3-Pack and Brushed Brass Butterflies for embellishments.
Wild Ferns Bundle: Thank You Card
For my second card, I wanted to incorporate two techniques: masking and partial embossing. These two techniques work well together! If you are not familiar with the Partial Embossing Technique, you can click here to view the technique in more detail.
I chose to use Basic White and Pretty Peacock. To incorporate the techniques of masking and partial embossing, I used a Basic White layer. I wanted to create a border or focal point with the various stamped images on the left side of my Basic White layer. To do that, I masked off the right side of the layer with Post-It Notes and then stamped the images. After removing the masking, I used the Fern 3D Embossing Folder to dry emboss the remainder of my Basic White layer. Next, I added a 3/8″ strip of Pretty Peacock along the border where the two techniques met. I, then layered the Basic White layer on Pretty Peacock before adhering it to my Basic White card base. The rectangles from the Wild Ferns Dies were perfect for layering the sentiment.
On the inside, I stamped a fern image using Pretty Peacock. I then stamped a second time without re-inking. The Basic White layer is layered on Pretty Peacock.
