Are you looking to make a holiday card that’s just a little bit different than usual? If so, I have the one for you! Today, I am demonstrating how to make a Bay Window Fun Fold for the holidays. Not only does this fun fold stand up but it easily fits in a standard envelope. In addition, my card is, also, a part of the September Fun Folds Blog Hop! The “hop” is comprised of Independent Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators who love making fun fold cards. At the end of this post, you will find the “line up” that will take you to several other blog posts. I hope you will “hop” along to see a variety of fun fold cards by several talented demonstrators.

Bay Window Fun Fold Card Design

The Bay Window Fun Fold is perfect for allowing Designer Series Paper to do most of the work for you. I chose to use Winter’s Meadow Designer Series Paper paired with Misty Moonlight for the card base. I am not a traditional holiday color type of gal. Which is why, I love this Designer Series Paper with a variety of blues, greens, grey with a hint of mauve.

I chose a piece of Designer Paper that allowed the pattern of the paper to carry through from the outside to the inside of the card. This requires careful attention when cutting the paper. Because I wanted my Bay Window Fun Fold to be able to stand on a mantel or table, it was important for the card to hold it’s shape. I decided to make a “lip” or small edge from card stock and Designer Series Paper that would allow the front of the card to “tuck” inside the “lip.” This provided support for maintaining the shape of the card when standing upright.

I used the sentiment “Winter Wishes” and two stamped die cuts from the Magical Meadow Bundle as my focal point. Because I wanted to pick up the Shaded Spruce and Moody Mauve in the Designer Paper, I used Stampin’ Write Markers and applied the color directly to the stamp. I embellished the front of the card with Adhesive Backed Speckled Dots.

I’ll show you how to construct the Bay Window so that it maintains it’s shape when in an upright position, as well as, adding more than one color to a stamped image. Further down in the post, you will see measurements, supplies and downloadable PDF. Leave me a comment, I would love to know what your thoughts are on my holiday Bay Window Fun Fold.
