Today, I am going to demonstrate how to make a holiday Joy Fold Card with the Deckled Circle Dies. I love the Deckled Circle Dies, but have you wondered what to do with the larger dies? If so, here’s one option. I decided to incorporate it into a Joy Fold Card. If you are new to Joy Folds, it is a card within a card. The two largest Deckled Circle Dies are perfect for this! Below, you will see three different cards. The one on the far left is the one that I made during the video. All three cards are the same measurements and design, just different stamps and/or dies. Let’s get to it!

First, I chose to use a pattern from the Snowflake Magic Specialty Designer Series Paper. Lost Lagoon was used for the standard card base and Pretty Peacock was used for the Deckled Circle die cut. Next, I layered the Designer Series Paper on Basic White and adhered it to the Lost Lagoon card front. To die cut the circle, I used a 6″ x 6″ piece of Pretty Peacock scored at 3″. I, then, positioned the second largest circle die on the folded piece of Lost Lagoon so that it covered most of the card stock. The die cut folded circle is what I used for the “second” card for my Joy Fold.

After deciding that my card would be landscape, I used the Christmas Tidings Embossing Folder to dry emboss the front of the folded circle. A word of caution, if you are using a directional embossing folder, pay attention to how the front of the circle will be positioned. If the design on the embossing folder is one pattern or going in all directions, this won’t be an issue.

Holiday Joy Fold assembly

When assembling the Deckled Circle Joy Fold, position your standard card base with the fold at the bottom so the front of the card opens downward. Position the circular card with the fold at the top so that when you open the card, the front opens upward. Line up the fold of the circle with the inside top edge of the standard card base. Adhere the two card bases together.

Next, I cut three snowflake wreaths from Basic White using the Wishes All Around Dies. I adhered the wreaths together using a needle-point multipurpose glue. Layering the wreaths added dimension to my focal point. I, then, adhered the wreath to the embossed front of the circle card. I added Irridescent Rhinestone Basic Jewels to the center of every other snowflake in the wreath and a single gem to the Pretty Peacock embossed front.

I used a Basic White center that was cut out from the wreaths to stamp my sentiment with Pretty Peacock. I then adhered the die cut sentiment to the inside of the Pretty Peacock. If my sentiment had not fit on that die cut, I would have heat embossed the sentiment with Versamark and White Embossing Powder.

For the lower half of the Lost Lagoon standard card base, I added a layer of Basic White with a strip of Pretty Peacock card stock and a strip of matching Designer Series Paper. I stamped a few snowflakes at the top. This bottom portion provided a space to write a personalized note.

Additional Holiday Joy Fold Cards With Deckled Circle Dies

In the Joy Fold Cards below, I made the deckled circle card a little larger. I cut the square of card stock 8″ x 8″ scored at 4 inches. I, then, positioned the circle on the folded card stock so that I cut approximately two-thirds of the circle versus one-half. This allowed my circular card to be a little larger.
