Today’s card may look like a fancy fold, but it’s actually built on a standard A2 card base—no complicated scoring or accordion folding required! In this easy fan fold tutorial, I’ll show you how to create the illusion of a fan fold using the gorgeous new Floral Charm 12” x 12” Designer Series Paper, part of the upcoming Stampin’ Up! Online Exclusives collection.

By layering carefully cut pieces of card stock and patterned paper, you can mimic the look of cascading folds while keeping your card base flat and simple. It’s reminiscent of easy fan folds, and it’s the perfect way to highlight bold, floral prints like those in the Floral Charm DSP—and it comes together in just minutes!

Today’s card is taking part in the Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators June Fun Fold Blog Hop. The “hop” is comprised of Independent Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators who love making fun folds and sharing those cards with others. They aim to provide creative ideas and inspiration. At the end of this post, you will find the “line up.” It will take you to several other blog posts. I hope you will “hop” along to see a variety of fun folds by these talented demonstrators from around the globe.

Fan Fold Card: Basic Concept

  • The card base stays flat (standard A2 size)
  • Multiple angled or staggered DSP panels are layered on the front to create the appearance of a fan or fold-out design
  • This creates visual interest without extra bulk or folds

Why You Will Love This Fan Fold Card Design

  • No complex folds—just a standard card base and beautiful DSP
  • A great way to showcase coordinating patterns and colors
  • Adds a “wow” factor with minimal effort

Tip: Since the front panel of this card is cut on a diagonal to create the fan fold effect, be mindful of where you stamp or write your personal greeting inside. Parts of the inside may be visible from the front, so consider stamping your sentiment lower on the inside panel or adding an extra layer to conceal your message for a more polished finish.

Keep inside greetings, notes or added elements to the left and middle of the card inside, as parts of the inside may be visible from the front
