Today, I want to share with you a Pinwheel card template that is fool proof. I have tried making Pinwheel cards in the past, but have always had some trouble lining the pieces up evenly. During the Creativate Retreat this past weekend, I learned how to easily make a Pinwheel card. In fact, I made several of them, at once. I was so excited, I wanted to share this secret that Jackie Bolhuis taught us, with all of you!

My Designer Paper was from Fresh As A Daisy. From there, I built my color scheme using the colors in the paper. Typically, I use Basic White Thick for my card base, but because of the number of layers, I used regular Basic White card stock. I layered with Moody Mauve, followed by an embossed layer of Basic White. I decided to use, both, side of my Designer Series Paper. But, to add a little dimension and interest, I decided to emboss the Wild Wheat side. I used the Basics 3D Embossing Folder that resembles “hashtags” on both the Basic White layer and the Designer Series Paper. You can, easily, make the Pinwheel card without using an embossing folder.

Pinwheel Card Template

The “pinwheel” is made up of two pieces of card stock measuring 2 5/8″ x 2 5/8.” I used a piece of grid paper and lined up one of the squares from point to point along a gridline. Next, I laid the second square over creating eight points for my pinwheel. I simply “eyeballed” it so that my eight points were fairly even. Once you have the two squares where you want them, add adhesive to adhere them together. Now, you have your template to adhere the squares, thereby, creating a pinwheel.
