If you are one that thinks “simple” cards are boring, look again! Today’s post and video show you how to add interest, texture, elegance and beauty to a “simple” handmade card. I chose to use the Inked & Tiled Stamp Set with Inked Botanicals 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper. I love the simplicity of the stamped images and the colors in the Designer Series Paper.
Once, I chose my Designer Series Paper, I decided on Lost Lagoon for the card base and Very Vanilla for the layers. I colored the large floral image with Stampin’ Write Markers, something I rarely did in the past. But, the new Stampin’ Write Markers are perfect for doing just that! After stamping the floral image, I dry embossed the layer with one of the Basic 3D Embossing Folders. This not only added texture and dimension to the layer, but it added interest to the stamped floral images. Next, I adhered the Designer Series Paper to the left side of the card. Prior to adhering the combined layers to the card base, I added ribbon and a bow (Refer to video for tips on ribbon and bow). I used Tinsel Gems Three-Pack to embellish the card front.

The video below will demonstrate how to make the card, as well as, some tips and tricks for dressing the card up and making an easy bow. Further down in the post, you will find an example of a second inside to the card. You will, also, find the supplies, measurements and instructions with a downloadable PDF. Leave me a comment, I would love to know if you think a simple card is boring?
Simple Card Inside: Variety of Options
There are several ways to add interest to the inside of your card. One is to stamp an image in the upper or lower corner(s) of the inside layer. Here, I repeated the image that is on the front of the card.

Next, you can add a thin strip of matching Designer Series Paper to the side or bottom edge of the inside layer. Here, I chose to adhere a 3/8″ x 4″ matching piece of Inked Botanicals Designer Series Paper. You could even add a matching piece of Designer Series Paper to the envelope flap, if desired.

So you see, simple isn’t boring! It can be elegant, beautiful and full of interest. You can do this with any of your stamp sets….think outside the box! It’s as easy as stamping am image and then embossing. Add a little ribbon or gems…and you are set!
