One of my favorite style cards to make is a fun fold. Today, I want to show you how to easily make a Tri-Fold Accordion card. As, many fun folds, it allows the Designer Series Paper to do much of the work. I chose to use the Flowering Zinnia Designer Series Paper. I love the design patterns and bright colors. When folded up, the card is vertical and measures a standard A2 size, 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ and fits in a standard size envelope.
Tri-Fold Accordion Card Design
I chose Basic White Thick card stock for the card base. When designing the card, I found it easier to break it down into panels: top, center and bottom. The top and center panels were layered with Basic Black and two different patterns from the Flowering Zinnia Designer Series Paper. For the bottom panel, I layered Basic White on Designer Series Paper.
I chose to use sentiments from several different stamp sets. For the top panel, I used a sentiment from the Textured Florals Stamp Set, “Birthday Blooms For You.” This particular sentiment seemed very appropriate with my card design. On the center panel, I stamped directly on the layer of Designer Series Paper using a sentiment from the Filled With Fun Stamp Set, “Celebrating Someone Special.” For the bottom panel, I used “hope your day is a happy one” from the So Sincere Stamp Set.
Tri-Fold Accordion Focal Point
On the top panel, I chose to design my focal point using the Simply Zinnia and Stylish Shapes Dies. I wanted to replicate the two-tone flowers in the center panel of the Designer Series Paper. There are two detailed dies that layer to create a flower. I cut one layer in Blackberry Bliss and the other from Melon Mambo. For the center of the flower, I used Daffodil Delight and Pumpkin Pie. I die cut the leaves from Mossy Meadow. All of these colors can be found in the Flowering Zinnia Designer Series Paper. I finished up by using the Adhesive Backed Shiny Sequins as my embellishment.
In the instructional video below, I demonstrate how to score, fold and design the Tri-Fold Accordion Card seen above. Further down in the post, you will find an additional card, supplies and a downloadable PDF resource with measurements and supplies. Leave me a comment as I would love your thoughts on this great fun fold and the Simply Zinnia Dies and Flowering Zinnia Designer Series Paper.
