Have you ever experienced a slump in your creativity and you’re “stuck” not knowing where to begin with your card making? I know I have, so I thought I would share with you one of the resources I use when I need a “kick start!” I simply use a card sketch.
What is a card sketch?
A card sketch is a template or guide that you can use to aid in designing your card. It is a “rough” sketch to give you ideas of how to “lay out your card.” Sketches are always up for interpretation. You and I may look at the same sketch and see something totally different, and that’s okay! What I see as a circle, you may see as a flower. What I see as a strip of Designer Series Paper, you may see as a vertical die cut. The point is, it doesn’t matter. It’s there to “jump start” your ideas! Where can you find card sketches? Look on the internet, Pinterest, blogs. There are even card challenges out there that use a sketch!
Sample Card Sketch
Below, is a card sketch that I had designed. Pretty simple, isn’t it? Below you will see two cards that I made, both of which, were inspired by the sketch. Yet, both, are different!
