Welcome to another Fun Fold Monday! Are you ready to learn how to create a Floating Center Fold card? I first learned of this fun fold from Brandy Cox during the most recent Creativate Retreat. While this may appear to be a challenging fun fold, it really is quite easy. I recommend watching the video, as well as, referring to the tutorial. Let’s get started!
Floating Center Fold Card Design
The Floating Center Fold starts off with a standard card base of 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2.” Next, I scored at 2 1/8″ and 4 1/4″. After folding on the score lines, I had three panels. Next, I used a 2″ x 4″ piece of matching card stock scored at 1/2″, 1″, and 1 1/2″ to create the floating center support. I adhered the ends of the support to the middle panel left of the fold and the right panel to the right of the fold. It was important to avoid adhering directly on the fold, otherwise my card would not open properly. Once, I was ready to adhere the floating center, I applied liquid glue to the top of the center support. (Refer to video for step-by-step instructions)
Decorating The Outside Portion
I used the Exposed Brick 3D Embossing Folder to emboss layers for the left and center panels. The right panel was layered with Smoky Slate and a pattern from the Country Lace 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper. I used the Textured Floral Bundle to stamp and die cut my images. To add some softness to my focal point, I used one of the distinctive dies to cut additional leaves from Soft Seafoam. To embellish the front of the card, I chose to use Fresh Freesia gems from the Tinsel Gems Three-Pack. I was truly happy with how well the card displays!
Below is the instructional video demonstrating step-by-step how to design a Floating Center Fold card. Further down in the post, you will find an additional card and a downloadable PDF with the link to the instructional video, measurements, and supplies. Leave me a comment and let me know your thoughts on this truly display worthy fun fold!
