Looking for fresh and versatile ways to use the Stampin’ Up! Extraordinary Flora Bundle? In today’s post, I’m sharing four creative card making techniques that combine stamping, die cutting and washi tape. In all of the cards, I feature the Gardens Embossing Folder from the Glass & Gardens Embossing Folders duo. By integrating these elements, you can explore card making techniques that add rich texture, depth, and elegance to your handmade cards. Whether you’re highlighting bold florals, layering colors, or creating your own patterned paper, this collection of techniques will inspire you to stretch your creativity with the Extraordinary Flora Bundle.
Whether you’re a seasoned cardmaker or just starting out, these ideas are simple, stylish, and full of creative potential. Let’s jump into four techniques of creative card making!
Technique #1: Die Cutting With Washi Tape

For this card, I started by adhering a piece of the Extraordinary Flora Washi Tape onto a piece of Basic White cardstock. This creates a firm, clean base that allows the washi to be die-cut without tearing or stretching. I then used the coordinating dies to cut the washi-covered images and arranged them as the focal point of my card. This technique gives your washi tape dimension and makes it look like it was printed—perfect for quick, polished results and showcases card making creativity.
Technique #2: Stamped & Colored Die-Cut Florals

In this design, I stamped the floral images from the Extraordinary Flora Stamp Set onto Basic White cardstock. Next, I colored them using Stampin’ Blends to add rich shading and depth. After coloring, I used the matching die to cut them out to create a focal point on my card front. The dainty, colorful die cuts create a simple and stunning focal point on your handmade card using an inventive card making technique!
Technique #3: Washi Tape Focal Panel

Instead of die cutting, this technique uses matting to highlight the washi tape’s beauty. I mounted a full strip of the Extraordinary Flora Washi Tape onto Basic White cardstock, then trimmed it into a rectangular panel. This panel became the focal point of my card, accented with a simple sentiment from the Greetings For All Mix & Match Ephemera Pack. It’s a fast and elegant way to use washi tape when you want to let its details shine with creative card making technique ideas.
Technique # 4: Create Your Own Patterned Paper

For this final card, I used the stamp from the Extraordinary Flora Bundle to create my own patterned paper. I used Tuxedo Black Momento ink on a panel of Basic White cardstock. Next, I colored the stamped images with Stampin’ Blends using a variety of colors. Once the stamping and coloring were complete, I trimmed the panel to size and used it as a focal background on my card. This is an excellent way to make your own Designer Series Paper and customize it for any theme or color palette, exemplifying innovative card making techniques.
