This week for Fun Fold Monday, I am sharing a Side Tucked Fun Fold Card. One of the key features I love about this design is that tucking the card under the “latch” allows it to remain closed and lay flat. Additionally, it stands up and displays well, too!
Below is the card that I made during my LIVE card class. This card is “stepped up” a bit from my original version, below. Here, I matted the Designer Series Paper on a layer of card stock. For my focal point, I chose to use detailed die cuts from Changing Leaves. Most of the time, I find detailed die cuts are not conducive to using Stampin’ Dimensionals. To remedy this, I cut 3-4 of the same die and layer them together using glue with a fine tip. Then, I simply use the glue to adhere the layered die cut to the card. Layering provides dimension, texture and interest to the card.
Finally, when I demonstrated the card, I used Multipurpose Liquid Glue to adhere the latch. Afterward, I did not feel that the liquid glue was the best choice. I, later, removed the latch and adhered it with Tear & Tape. I, definitely, recommend that as the better choice for a sturdy latch.

Side Tuck Fun fold Inside
There are a couple options for finishing off the inside of a Side Tucked Fun Fold. For this card, I layered Basic White on Crumb Cake. Next, I centered the layer behind the front panel of the card. As you can see, the “latch” overlaps the layers, but I didn’t really mind, as I felt the Designer Series Paper added to the design. The second option is to offset you layer(s) to the left which I did in the two cards below.
Below is the video tutorial for making a Side Tuck Fun Fold. In the video, you will find step-by-step instructions, tips for adhering detailed die cuts and two additional cards. I hope you enjoyed the Side Tuck Fun Fold Design and will give it a try! Leave me a comment and let me know what you think about this card design!
Additional Side Tuck Fun Fold Cards
In the Side Tuck Fun Fold, above, I used the Sketched Butterflies Bundle paired with the Changing Leaves Embossing Folder and Subtles 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper. I did a watercolor wash for the butterfly. I used Stampin’ Up! Watercolor Paper with Lemon Lolly, Calypso Coral and Flirty Flamingo. Once the paper was dry, I stamped the butterfly using Black Stazon Ink and die cut the image. For the inside, I, simply, added a Basic White Panel on the left side under the side fold.
