Today, I thought it would be fun to use the Stampin’ Up! Winter Owl Bundle and the One Horse Open Sleigh Designer Series Paper to create an easy shaker card. I love shaker cards and owls, so it was a perfect combination to add to my holiday cards.
Designing The Window for the Shaker Card
Because several of the designs in the One Horse Open Sleigh Designer Series Paper were perfect for the background, I had a hard time choosing just one for my shaker card. Once I did choose a background, I decided on Lost Lagoon for my card base. Next, I created a frame by die cutting a layer of Lost Lagoon with a Deckled Rectangle Die. To adhere the window sheet to the frame, I used Tear & Tape. I find this much easier, especially since glue is difficult to remove and makes a mess if it gets on the window portion of the frame. After placing Loose Silver Sequins on the center of my card base, I adhered the frame with the window to the card using Adhesive Strips.
I stamped the owl on Basic White with Pecan Pie. To lightly add some color to the body of the owl, I used a Blender Pen to gently “pull” ink from the stamped image. Early Expresso was used to die cut the tree trunk which I adhered to the window and aligned with the tree in the background. Both, the tree trunk and owl were “popped up” with Dimensionals. A simple Linen Thread bow was all that was added for embellishment.

I used Early Expresso to stamp the tree. Snowflakes were added using Lost Lagoon. To add the snow at the base of the tree, I used a Blender Pen.
In the video below, you will see how to make an easy window card. In addition, I will share tips and tricks for using window sheets, as well as, a Blender Pen for adding color.
