Book Jacket Fun Fold: Book Spine & Card Front
I chose to use Basic White for my card base. To design the book spine and card front, I used a 5 1/2″ x 6 3/4″piece of Basic White scored at 1/2″, 1 1/2″, 2 1/2″, and 3 1/2.” Next, I cut a 5 1/2″ x 7 1/4″ scored at 4 1/4″. I used this piece to create the back portion of the card with the book jacket flap.

I used two patterns from the Floral Delight 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper for my layers. For the book spine, I used a Daffodil Delight gingham pattern layered on Old Olive. Next, I embossed a piece of Basic White with the Dashing Designs 3D Embossing Folder. I then layered the embossed Basic White layer on Old Olive before adhering it to the card front.
For my focal point, I used detailed floral and leaf die cuts from the Delightful Wishes Dies. The “Happy Birthday” greeting is from the Round We Go Stamp Set. I Daffodil Delight from the Opal Round Gems to embellish the card front.

The back portion of the card is the book jacket flap. For the inside middle section, I simply added a piece of Designer Series Paper with the Daffodil Delight gingham pattern. Next, I stamped a sentiment on a layer of Basic White and adhered a 1/4″ strip of the same patterned paper before adhering the layer to the inside portion of the jacket flap.
Lastly, I added a floral piece of Designer Series Paper to the front portion of the jacket flap. Adding the patterned paper to the front of the flap enhanced the card’s aesthetic appeal, especially when the jacket flap is closed.
