Today, I want to talk about simple card making ideas using a template. Coming up with original ideas for card making on a daily basis can be daunting. One of my favorite “tools” to use for easy card making ideas is a template! I use the template as a pattern or layout to help generate ideas for card designs. Often, you may, also, hear a template referred to as a sketch.
How To Use A Template
How do you use a template? Well, you can use it a few different ways. Suppose you already know what products you want to use, but you don’t have an idea as to how you want to use them. Look at the template or pattern and envision how you can use the products you have chosen to recreate that pattern or layout.
A second option may be that the template triggers ideas to use specific products. Regardless, there is no right or wrong way. It doesn’t even mean that you have to use the template as is! Change it up! Instead of a circle, use a square. Or, instead of the circle, you might choose to use a die cut floral. Make it your own! But, use it as a way to start planning your card making ideas! I used the template, below, for inspiration for my cards.
Simple Card Making Idea #1
Here, the template inspired me to use the Perennial Lavender 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper. The paper is gorgeous and I knew it would be a win-win with the template design. A circle cut using the Stylish Shapes Dies served for my sentiment and a small stamped image. To finish it up, I added a Linen Thread bow and a few gems. Simple, beautiful and inspired by a template!
Simple Card Making Idea #2
For my next card, I used the Frames & Flowers Specialty 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper. I love the color combinations in this paper and this, particular template, is ideal for “showing off” Designer Series Paper. For my focal point, I used the pre-cut images from the Frames & Flowers Specialty Paper. After which, I added embellishments from the Adhesive-Backed Pearl Trio. Simple, quick and fun!
Simple Card Making Idea #3
A floral image from Nature’s Sweetness Specialty 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper was my inspiration for my third card. I used the image for my focal point and adhered it to a die cut circle. Next, I chose two coordinating patterns from the same Designer Series Paper for my card front. To finish up, I simply added a few Adhesive-Backed Dappled Dots.
