If you’re looking for an easy and efficient way to create beautiful handmade cards, the One Sheet Wonder technique is a game-changer! This method uses one piece of Designer Series Paper (DSP) to craft six stunning cards. It’s perfect for batch crafting, saving paper, and creating cohesive card designs.

For this project, we’re using a piece of Toadstool Gardens 6” x 6” Designer Series Paper. It features whimsical patterns and vibrant colors. To make the designs pop, each piece of DSP is matted with Basic Black cardstock. This bold, elegant border adds a professional touch to your cards.

  4. Versatile: You can adapt the technique to different sizes and patterns of paper. It’s a versatile tool for any crafter.

How To Create With A One Sheet Wonder

Below, you will find two diagrams. One for cutting the 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper and one for cutting the black mattes. Follow these instructions to bring your cards to life.

  • Step 1: Cutting the Designer Series Paper
    • Refer to the cutting diagram for precise measurements. Here’s how to cut your 6” x 6” sheet:
    • Cut the DSP into smaller rectangles and squares as shown.
    • Group the pieces together to keep track of where they belong in the card designs.
  • Step 2: Cutting the Basic Black Mattes
    • Each piece of DSP will be matted on Basic Black cardstock. Cut the mattes slightly larger than the DSP pieces. This creates a uniform border. The cutting diagram for the mattes will guide you in creating the perfect sizes.
  • Step 3: Assemble Your Cards
    • Adhere each piece of DSP to its corresponding matte.
    • Attach the matted DSP to your card bases.
    • Add embellishments, sentiments, or die cuts to personalize your cards.

Tips for success

  • Use a sharp paper trimmer for clean, precise cuts.
  • Lay out all your pieces before adhering them. This ensures the designs and colors flow well.
  • Keep the embellishments simple to let the DSP shine.
