Are you ready for an easy fun fold card that is, truly, display-worthy! Today, I am sharing an Interlocking Double Panel Gatefold card. For this card, I am using Flowers of Beauty and Unbounded Love Bundles. I am, also, sharing this fun fold design in the Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators August Fun Fold Blog Hop.
The “hop” is comprised of Independent Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators who love making fun folds and sharing those cards with others to provide creative ideas and inspiration. At the end of this post, you will find the “line up” that will take you to several other blog posts. I hope you will “hop” along to see a variety of fun fold cards by these talented demonstrators from around the globe.
Interlocking Double Panel Gatefold Design
The Interlocking Double Panel Gatefold is one of my favorite fun fold card designs. Primarily, because you can make it as is or adapt it by adding layers of Designer Series Paper. The card base is a 10 3/4″ x 5 1/2″ piece of card stock scored at 1 5/8″, 3 1/4″, 7 1/2″ and 9 1/8″. Starting at the 1 5/8″ scoreline, you will alternate folding a “hill,” then a “valley,” followed by a ‘valley” and finishing with a “hill” fold. Be sure to burnish each of the folds, well, using a bone folder.
Next, I used Flirty Flamingo and Basic White for the layers to create my panels. The Basic White layers were embossed using the floral pattern from the Fun Patterns Embossing Folders. I created the focal point using Flowers of Beauty Bundle. The images require two-step stamping which I enjoy because it allows me to “play” with colors. Here, I stamped the outline with Flirty Flamingo, but I “stamped off,” once, for the inside of the flowers. The outline of the leaves were stamped with Pretty Peacock, while I used Lost Lagoon for the inside of the leaves.
The inside of the card is layered the same as the panels. Here, I chose to add a die cut flower to the upper left corner. I embellished the front of the card using Glossy Dots for the center of the small flowers. Next, I added Adhesive-Backed Dots for Days to the embossed layers.
Video Tutorial
Below is the instructional video demonstrating step-by-step how to design an Interlocking Double Panel Gatefold card. In the video, I used different colors for the card. There will be tips on scoring, folding, as well as, creating and placement of the panels. Further down in the post, you will find photos of the card made during the video, as well as a “stepped up” version. There is a downloadable resource sheet for each of the cards with measurements and supplies. Leave me a comment and let me know your thoughts on this display-worthy Fun Fold.
Interlocking Double Panel Gate Fold From Instructional Video
In the card below, I used the Exposed Brick 3D Embossing Folder and added a layer of Unbounded Beauty Designer Series Paper to each of the folds prior to adhering the panels. The addition of Designer Series Paper added a whole different look to the card.
