Today, I am sharing how to make a sympathy card that is clean and simple. What is clean and simple? While interpretation varies, a clean and simple card has: one main image, lots of open space, limited layers and embellishments and is quick and easy to recreate.

The sympathy card I am sharing with you is part of the Crafty Collaborations “themed” hop. This month’s theme is “clean and simple.” Crafty Collaboration’s blog “hops” are comprised of Independent Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators from around the world. These talented demonstrators love sharing their stamping and crafting ideas to provide you with inspiration. I hope, that as you “hop” along, you find inspiration in the “clean and simple” card making designs!

A Clean and Simple Card Design
I chose to use Basic White for the card base. To add some texture, I embossed a Basic White layer with the Zinnia 3D Embossing Folder before adhering to a layer of Basic Black. I stamped the butterfly with Tuxedo Black Momento Ink and colored it using Lemon Lolly and Calypso Coral Stampin’ Blends. To die cut my focal point, I used one of the circle dies from Spotlight On Nature. My external sentiment, “with sympathy” was from the Unbounded Love Stamp Set. I, simply, trimmed it to size and matted the sentiment layer with Basic Black

For my focal point, I chose to use the butterfly. A simple, yet clean image with significance to the life event that we all experience at one time of another. Throughout the ages, the butterfly has signified hope, love, change, transformation and the eternal nature of the soul. Because life can quickly pass us by, it is a reminder to live with joy and embrace life’s moments.
Clean and Simple Card: Inside
For the inside of the card, I, again, layered with Basic Black and Basic White. For the inside, I used a sentiment from the Hope You Know Stamp Set. Here, I stamped the butterfly, but chose not to color it.
