Today, I am excited to share with you two different versions of a Crossover Gate Fold Card. I chose to keep these “must try” fun folds simple, requiring few supplies and let Designer Series Paper do the work! I used the Love & Strength Cling Stamp Set, Spotlight On Nature Dies and Regal Winter 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper.

Crossover Gate Fold Card Design

The Crossover Gatefold card uses a standard A2 card base measuring 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″. I scored 2 1/8″ on, both, ends of the 8 1/2″ side of the card base. Next, I did a “mountain fold” on each of the score lines where, both, folds met in the middle. I, then, had my gate fold card base.

To create the “crossover” for my gate fold, I layered a 1 3/4″ x 3 3/4″ panel of Designer Series Paper on a 2″ x 4″ panel of Basic White. Next, I adhered one panel to the upper left fold and the second panel to the lower right fold. This creates the “crossover.”

I used the Spotlight On Nature Dies to cut a circle for my focal point. I, simply, stamped a floral image from the Love & Strength Stamp Set on the circle and “popped” it on the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Be careful when applying adhesives to the panels and circle to the side folds of the card base. Otherwise, you run the risk of adhering the folds closed. In the video tutorial, below, I share some tips for easy ways to apply whatever adhesive you are using.

In the modified version of the Crossover Gate Fold Card, I layered the folds with Basic White dry embossed with the Exposed Brick 3D Embossing Folder instead of Designer Series Paper. I resized the Basic White panels to 1 1/2″ x 4″ and Designer Series Paper to 1 1/4″ x 3 3/4″. Here, I cut three panels, instead of two. The top and bottom panels are adhered to the left fold, while the center panel is adhered to the right fold. I used a smaller circle so that my focal point was more proportionate to the smaller panels.
