Inevitably, during the holidays, I find myself having to give a few gift cards as gifts. I really don’t like putting a gift card or money, loose within a card. In part, that’s not the first thing I want someone to see. So today, I am going to share with you a Double Pocket Fun Fold card. I first saw this card made by Melissa Stout four years ago. This card is like a “two for one.” Not only do you have a lovely card to give, but there is a front pocket in which you can put a gift card or money!

Double Pocket Fun Fold Design

The double pocket fun fold is made using Designer Series Paper. When choosing which paper to use, you want to remember two things. First, choose a paper in which, both, sides complement one another. Second, do not choose a paper that has a direction to it. If you choose a paper with a pattern, it should be multi-directional. This way, the pattern won’t look upside down or “wonky.”

You will need to start off with a 12″ x 12″ sheet of Designer Series Paper. I chose a sheet from the Joy of Christmas that had poinsettias and foliage on one side and grey wood grain on the other. Next, I cut the Designer Series Paper to 8 1/2″ x 10 3/4″. Once folded and put together, the front pocket is for a gift card or money and the back pocket is for the insert.

Double Pocket Fun Fold Card Insert

For my card insert, I used a 3 1/4″ x 4 3/4″ piece of Basic White and layered it on a 3 1/2″ x 5″ piece of Real Red. I used the Christmas Classics Stamp Set for the sentiments and stamped images. On the Basic White layer, I stamped a holly using Tuxedo Black Momento ink. I, then, colored the holly leaves with Shaded Spruce Stampin’ Blend Markers. To stamp the berries, I used Real Red. To aid in easy removal of the insert, I used a paper punch for the hole through which I looped a piece of Real Red Ribbon. I positioned several of the sentiments from the Christmas Classics stamp set to create my sentiment.

Double Pocket Fun Fold Card Front

I used the rectangle die from Christmas Classics to cut a scrap from the Joy of Christmas Designer Series Paper which I adhered to the front using Multipurpose Glue. For the sentiment, I used the Stylish Shapes dies to cut a circle from Basic White. I used Stampin’ Dimensionals to pop-up the circle. For embellishments, I used a Linen Thread Bow and a single Real Red pearl from Festive Pearls.
